Position: Community Advocate Open: 02/24/25
Location: White Earth Close: 03/10/25
Pay: $20.42/hr. Benefits: Full Status: Full Time
The White Earth Reservation Business Committee is currently seeking a qualified applicant who will be responsible for providing direct services and assistance to individuals who have been a victim of domestic violence, sexual assault, or general violence; in addition to conducting community outreach, community education, awareness, and agency collaboration (state, Tribal, federal) regarding addressing violence issues on White Earth Reservation.
• Provide direct services to victims of crime to assure victims safety.
• Provide education and outreach on violence issues to create community
awareness.
• Establish and maintain quality working relationships with other service
providers to assure service delivery.
• Create and maintain program information to ensure compliance with
DOVE reporting requirements.
• Communicates directly with DOVE Community Advocacy Coordinator to
ensure program and organization is represented in a professional manner.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Knowledge of and ability to follow and apply the policies and procedures
of the White Earth Tribal Council and the Human Services Department.
• Knowledge of and ability to interpret cycle of abuse, power and control
issues, sexual violence, domestic violence, and victims’ rights.
• Knowledge of principles and processes for providing client and personal
services. This includes client/victim needs assessment, meeting quality
standards for services, and evaluation of client/victim satisfaction.
• Knowledge of and belief in non-violence, and willingness to challenge
societal norms that condone perpetual violence.
• Ability to respond and function in high stress situations.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing with victims,
staff, system providers, and others in the community.
• Ability to work a flexible on-call schedule for the crisis line.
• Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that
make sense.
• Ability to respond, assess and de-escalate crisis situations involving mental
health and/or substance abuse issues.
• Ability to adhere to and abide by strict confidentiality agreements.
• Knowledge of the White Earth Reservation demographics, culture, history
and lifestyles.
Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or GED and two (2) years’ experience providing
services to victims of violence
• 40 Hour Sexual Assault Advocacy Training certification (must obtain within
6 months of hire).
• Valid Driver’s license and insurance for travel between sites and other
business-related destinations.
• Must be able to pass criminal background check and drug screening.
