Position: Family Preservation Social Worker Open: 10/20/25
Location: White Earth RTC Close: 11/3/25
Pay: $32.52 per hr. or DOQ Benefits: Full Status: Full Time
The White Earth Reservation Tribal Council is currently seeking a qualified applicant who will be responsible providing intervention services to families in child welfare and providing prevention services to families who are at risk of developing child protection issues.
Position Outcomes:
• Provide basic child welfare intervention services and crisis intervention
services to families experiencing child protection
issues to avoid an out of home placement or Tribal CHIPS case in Court.
• Create a case plan to address needs of the family, providing information
and referrals to the family for service providers.
• Monitor family’s compliance with services and progress.
• Provide reports to social workers and the courts on progress, if applicable.
• Attend court hearings with families as a support.
• Provide prevention services to families at risk of developing child
protection issues to avoid the level of child protection involvement by
Indian Child Welfare.
• Identify families who are at risk of child protection services.
• Meet family and develop working relationship and offer voluntary services.
• Provide information and referrals to the family for service providers.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Knowledge of child protection laws and ability to apply that knowledge to
individual referrals for services.
• Knowledge of service providers and ability to make referrals for families.
• Knowledge of Federal IV-E rules and procedures and ability to apply the
rules to individual cases.
• Knowledge of Indian child rearing practices and ability to apply that
knowledge to cases.
• Skilled in the operation of a personal computer, including related software
and programs as needed to complete paperwork.
• Skilled and able to identify the needs of families and resources to meet
those needs.
• Ability to generate reports in a professional and timely manner to
document the progress the family is making on their case plan
• Ability to effectively manage several cases at the same time.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in social work, Psychology, Criminal Justice, Human
Services, with two (2) years’ experience preferred in the Child Welfare field.
• Valid Driver’s License and insurance to travel between sites.
• Must pass a background check and drug screening.
