The White Earth Reservation Business Committee is seeking a qualified candidate to provide public health nursing services to individuals, families, and population groups living on the White Earth Reservation. Public Health nursing is essential to our community well-being and health status improvement.
- Promotes public health within the communities.
- Participates in and leads health education initiatives and has genuine interest in health protection.
- Provides guidance on client care and promotes healthy lifestyles and behaviors.
- Provides care coordination, referral and follow-up to individuals and families who are members of a vulnerable population and/or high-risk groups. Evaluates outcomes, effectiveness of plan, and makes changes as necessary.
- Provides nursing services and healthcare education in communities and at community clinics.
- Prepare patients for, and assist with, examinations and treatments in the Public Health Clinics.
- Contributes to a work environment that fosters ongoing educational experiences regarding public health nursing and stays abreast of advancements in the field of public health.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of information and techniques needed to treat human injuries, diseases, and deformities. This includes symptoms, treatment alternatives, drug properties and interactions, and prevention health-care measures.
- Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; and recognition of behavioral and effective disorders to refer for services.
- Knowledge of federal laws including Health Insurance portability accountability Act (HIPAA), health billing codes, government regulations, and agency rules.
- Knowledge of the White Earth Reservation demographics, Culture, Geography, and lifestyles.
- Knowledge of and ability to follow and apply policies and procedures of the White Earth Business Committee, Home Health Agency, Nurse Practice Act and State & Federal laws relating to scope of practice.
- Ability to apply rules and combine information to reach an appropriate conclusion to people and
programs. - Ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the
problem, only recognizing there is a problem.
Qualifications:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure issued by the state of MN.
- Valid driver’s license and insurance for travel between sites and other business-related destinations.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screening.
