About the White Earth Eminence Credential
The White Earth Eminence Committee supports White Earth tribal members and descendants who demonstrate competencies in Ojibwe History, Culture, and/or Language and wish to pursue a Minnesota K-12 Teaching License.
Licenses Available
As of January 1, 2024, the Minnesota Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB) offers the following licenses:
- Ojibwe Language
- Ojibwe History and Culture
- Dakota Language
- Dakota History and Culture
- American Indian Language
- American Indian History and Culture
Note: The White Earth Eminence Committee will only offer interviews for 1) Ojibwe Language and 2) Ojibwe History and Culture.
Background Checks
All candidates will complete a White Earth Compliance Division Background Form. Following receipt and review of background information, the application process will cease if the candidate is found to be ineligible for the Eminence Credential and/or a Minnesota AILHC Teaching License. The candidate will be notified in writing.
How to obtain your AILHC Licensure (following receipt of official approved RBC resolution)
To obtain a Minnesota teaching license, you’ll need to submit the following:
- A Minnesota Tier 3 or 4 American Indian Language, History, and Culture License application
- Your approved and signed WERBC Resolution
- A completed fingerprint card
- Official sealed post-secondary transcript(s), if applicable
- A check or money order to pay the licensing fee
