Pay: $22.51/hr. Benefits: Full Status: Full Time
The White Earth Reservation Tribal Council is currently seeking a qualified applicant who will be responsible for assisting with supervised visitations for parents and children involved in Indian Child Welfare (ICW) cases, aiming to improve parenting skills and family well-being. The position involves enhancing parental understanding of child development, providing educational and cultural activities during visitations, and connecting families with essential community resources.
Position Outcomes:
• Supervises Visits: Facilitates and oversees visits between children and their non-custodial parents, or relatives to ensure a safe, neutral, and positive environment.
• Foster Healthy Interactions: Design and lead engaging activities (cultural, literacy-based, and outdoor) that encourage positive parent-child bonding.
• Safe Transit: Responsibly transport children to and from visits using agency or personal vehicles, ensuring all car seat safety laws and agency protocols are strictly followed.
• Case Coordination: Work closely with Social Workers and Case Aides to ensure consistent visitation schedules and encourage parental engagement in necessary support services (e.g., substance abuse or mental health).
• Enhance Parenting Skills: Improve parents' understanding of child development and provide curriculum-based training to meet their children's physical, emotional, and social needs.
• De-escalation techniques required.
• Trauma informed approach required at all times.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Deep understanding of child development, culturally appropriate child-rearing, and the ability to work with families facing economic or relational crises.
• Skilled in active listening and remaining calm to diffuse emotional situations or address challenging behavioral disorder
• Communication: Ability to use "strength-based" language to inspire clients toward reunification and effectively communicate via written reports and team collaboration
• Critical Thinking: Ability to recognize high-risk situations instantly and think quickly to problem-solve during visitation
• Clerical & Logistics: Proficient in maintaining real-time electronic charting/files and knowledgeable about local laws regarding client transportation
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field, Education or related field, Social Work, Psychology, Criminal Justice preferred; or associate’s degree in law enforcement, Human Services, CDA with 5 years’ experience accepted.
• 2 years’ documented experience working with parents and or children.
• Ability to work evenings, after hours and some weekends.
• Valid Driver’s License and insurance for travel between sites and other business-related destinations.
